The Nottingham Restaurant Awards are sponsored by Nottingham financial advisors and insurance brokers, The Wilson Organisation. Joint MD, Charlotte Prow, commented…“as a locally founded and based organisation, we at Wilsons are committed to supporting our regional business community, so the Nottingham Restaurant Awards has been an ideal opportunity to provide assistance to restaurateurs across the city.
“This event is the highlight of any restaurateurs calendar and it means so much to them personally, professionally and commercially to be involved. We’d like to congratulate all the nominees and winners on the great job they do.”
In another hugely successful year, nearly 40,000 votes were cast by the public during the month of April, after which time the votes were collated and the top three nominated restaurants in each category put to independent panels of expert judges – representatives from Harper’s Wine Magazine, Alastair Sawday’s Pub and Inn’s Guide, Good Food Guide, Square Meal, PubChef magazine and UK Metro. These judges visited the nominees anonymously during May to decide the ultimate winners.
Here’s what a couple of judges had to say about the awards and, more importantly, the local restaurant scene…
“Nottingham, and indeed its county, has an amazingly diverse choice of really good places to eat and these awards are the perfect way to encourage its inhabitants to get out there and enjoy them.”
Mario Wyn-Jones of Ask Mario, and former Chief Inspector of Egon Ronay's Guides
"The Nottingham Restaurant Awards have given the people of Nottingham pride in their dining-out scene, and by continuing in these uncertain times the awards should be applauded. And if you want proof that food in Britain is outclassing many close European neighbours, then go to Nottingham and explore its impressive range of first-class tapas, cafes, bars, gastropubs and fine dining restaurants."
